TaRMS Filing Process
All tax types listed above are filed through the TaRMS self-service portal. Taxpayers must log in using their TIN and password, select the relevant tax type and period, complete the return form, and submit electronically. For PAYE, employers are required to submit the long PAYE return, which includes employee-level remuneration and deduction data uploaded as a structured file. The upload procedure is documented in a step-by-step guide available on the ZIMRA website at www.zimra.co.zw.
Gaming Operators' Tax — Manual Submission
ZIMRA advises that Gaming Operators' Tax is not yet available on TaRMS. Operators subject to this tax must submit their returns manually at their nearest ZIMRA offices. The manual return form is available for download on the ZIMRA website. Gaming operators should note that the same 5 March 2026 return deadline and 10 March 2026 payment deadline apply, notwithstanding the manual submission process. ZIMRA has indicated that the integration of Gaming Operators' Tax into TaRMS is in progress and a further notice will be issued when the electronic option becomes available.
Mining Royalties: Cash and In-Kind
Mining operators are reminded that mining royalties are payable in both cash and in kind. Both components must be declared on the Withholding Taxes Return for the February 2026 period. The in-kind component involves the physical transfer of a portion of extracted minerals to ZIMRA and must be arranged through ZIMRA's designated receiving process. Failure to declare and arrange the in-kind portion constitutes non-compliance and attracts penalties in addition to the outstanding liability.
Payment Process
Payments to ZIMRA are made through the taxpayer's bank by cash deposit or electronic transfer. The taxpayer's TIN is the only mandatory reference required on the bank payment instruction. Allocation to the specific tax type and period is handled by TaRMS once the return has been submitted and the payment received in ZIMRA's bank account. Taxpayers should allow for bank processing times and not leave payment until the last possible moment on 10 March 2026.
Reminder: Returns for all listed tax types covering February 2026 are due on 5 March 2026 and payments are due on 10 March 2026. Gaming Operators' Tax must be filed manually at ZIMRA offices. All other taxes are filed via TaRMS at mytaxselfservice.zimra.co.zw.
